Updated BOE/DOE Strategic Plan available online
The BOE/DOE Strategic Plan, which identifies specific indicators of success that we can all monitor together, is now available for download as an iBooks file and Adobe PDF at hawaiidoe.org.
During the 2012-13 school year, time, tools, and resources have been built in to collect data to measure ongoing progress. We know the 39 targets in our plan are the right targets, and, by December 2012, the DOE will have finalized all measurement tools and baselines.
Student achievement is at the core of the BOE/DOE Strategic Plan, which builds on key strengths and reform initiatives to ensure all students graduate ready to succeed in college or careers.
The Strategic Plan aligns the three main DOE goals with three BOE committees (Student Achievement, Human Resources, and Finance and Infrastructure) to increase both accountability and efficiency. Teachers, DOE administrators, students, parents, and leaders from the business, nonprofit, and public sectors all contributed to the Strategic Plan, including the following new Mission and Vision statements:
We serve our community by developing the academic achievement, character, and social-emotional well-being of our students to the fullest potential. We work with partners, families, and communities to ensure that all students reach their aspirations from early learning through college, career, and citizenship.
Hawaii's students are educated, healthy, and joyful lifelong learners who contribute positively to our community and global society.
